Charitable Giving

Giving Guidelines
KCS' Charitable Fund supports charitable organizations and events benefiting communities and the citizens in our service area.  Contributions can only be made to 501 (c)(3) organizations, as recognized by the Internal Revenue Service and are limited by the funds available in the KCS Charitable Fund at any given time.

Charitable requests must be in writing and include:

• Organizations name and proof of 501 ( c )(3) status as part of the Internal Revenue Code;
• Mailing address, Internet address and email;
• Name of contact person, title and phone number;
• Officers and members of the governing board;
• Purpose of request;
• Amount requested; and
• Any benefits of sponsorship.

Requests for funding will not be considered from:

• Individuals, or organizations established to help specific individuals;
• Religious, fraternal or social organizations; or
• Organizations whose activities are focused outside KCS' territory.

Matching Gifts Program
KCS also maintains a Matching Gifts Program for its employees. Detailed guidelines on the eligibility of participants, recipient organizations and gifts can be obtained by contacting Nancy Gallagher.
